| Have you ever broken a bone? How did it happen? | | I've done it twice. The first time happened when I was 9 or 10. My brother and I were playing "traffic cop". He was riding his bicycle and I was the traffic cop. He was approaching faster and faster and I put up my hand for him to stop. When he didn't, I grabbed the handlebar of his bike. The momentum threw me across the street and I hit my wrist on the curb. Broke it in three places and had to have a cast for almost a year. It was stupid and my fault. Never did that again! lol. The next time I broke the pinky finger on my left hand. I was playing softball and the ball hit my hand as I was making a catch out in left field. I bought a popsicle with 2 sticks and "set" it myself. I was 20 at the time. It's a little crooked but it saved me a couple hundred dollars by doing it myself. What about you? Any broken bones? | |
| | Building up power behind that swing! | | So everyone that has played baseball or still is playing baseball wants to hit the long ball and why not since apparently Chicks Dig The Long Ball. The only problem is not everyone has the ability or body to have the power. At least thats what they think.I have a few tricks or training methods I have used in the past that worked with me. I wished I would have trained like this when I was in little league and in high school.First method and it will sound alittle funny is go to the local hardware store and buy a ax. Yes an ax the same tool to cut wood. It will cost you around 20 to 30 dollars depending on the ax. Than the next part could be free or might cost some. I was luckily able to find a house that needed would cut. Get some nice logs or trees and practice cutting sorta like swinging a bat. If your right handed bring the ax from your right ear down and through the wood. Left... | |

| | Would you spend $60.00 on a charity card game? | | My niece's softball team is having a charity Texas Holdem tournament. The money will help the team and my niece to pay for travel expenses for tournaments. I am a pretty decent Texas Hold Em player but I know that these kinds of things have a lot to do with luck and not always skill. My sister in law is practically begging me to go. She is sending email reminders every day. So far my neice has no one other than her own friends supporting her and I feel bad about that, I have one friend that says he will go if I go. The $60 does include free food and drinks but I don't know what that entails. But $60.00 is a lot of money. It takes a lot for me to earn $60 with my online endevours and $60.00 will be a big chun of what I made this month. Of course I could win, but I never count on winning at anything like this. Would you go if you were me? | |

| | Baseball | | The sport that evokes more
nostalgia among Americans than
any other is baseball. So many
people play the game as children
(or play its close relative,
softball) that it has become
known as "the national
pastime." It is also a
democratic game. Unlike
football and basketball, baseball
can be played well by people of
average height and weight.
Baseball originated before the
American Civil War (1861-1865)
as rounders, a humble game
played on sandlots. Early
champions of the game fine-
tuned it to include the kind of
skills and mental judgment that
made cricket respectable in
England. In particular, scoring
and record-keeping gave
baseball gravity. "Today," notes
John Thorn in The Baseball
Encyclopedia, "baseball without
records is inconceivable." More
Americans undoubtedly know
that Roger Maris's 61 home
runs in 1961 broke Babe Ruth's
record of 60 in 1927 than that
President Ronald Reagan's... | |

| Things on your 'to do' list? | | What is one thing that you have been meaning or wanting to do for a long time but have never got around to it or something has held you back from doing it?I have a list that is a mile long that includes yoga lessons, join a lawn bowls team, join a softball team, learn how to sew, learn how to surf, take cake decorating lessons and travel. What have you been putting off and why? Is it because of money or something else that you haven't got around to doing it yet? | |
| | I'm back home but still in pain.. | | Instead of responding to every post in my friend's discussion that she started about me, I decided to just start a new discussion and say everything once. I'm doing ok but not ok. Have some health issues that should of been taken care of over a year ago but the quack doctors seem to find something wrong with me every time. I have 5 uterine fibroids that are becoming increasingly difficult to deal with. What was supposed to be a simple surgery 1 1/2 yrs. ago is now going to be a hysterectomy by the end of Nov. The biggest fibroid is just over the size of a softball or large grapefruit while the smallest is the size of a golfball. Every month, the cramping is worse and yesterday was no exception. Pain woke me out of a deep sleep and I couldn't even move. Went to ER but they sent me on my way knowing I had a drs. appointment that morning. At the doctor's (a new one this time), she flat... | |

| | Yeah you won errrr another game. | | Yesterday we sat at a softball tournament all day. We had to drive an hour to get there. We all got sunburned and were so tired. We started by being there at 8am and cheered our hearts out. We were sorry the girls lost one game. The last game starting at 6pm the parents confided in each other we were hoping they would lose this game so we wouldn't have to repeat this another day. As the game went on and the parents for the other team were being nasty to the umpires, our girls and their girls we cheered even louder and got our girls all excited and yeah they won!!! All of us parents jumped up and down for our girls then suddenly reality hit. Oh my gosh we have to come back for another day of this. So that means we go back today and sit again in 95 degree weather, getting more sunburned after driving an hour to get there oh what a joy. I guess it isn't that bad our girls enjoyed... | |

| Taking one for the team!! | | My daughter is 12 years old and she plays fast pitch softball. She has dwarfism and is not even 4 foot so her strike zone is very small. She has gotten hit a few times by the ball but it has all been ok. Yesterday during a game she got hit pretty hard. Now one of my rules is you don't cry during games because I really hate when girls are emotional over games and you spend more time wiping tears then playing the game. Well the hit she took yesterday caused all the fans for both teams to gasp. The sound of the thud echoed. She limped to first base but did not shed a tear even though I could tell she wanted to. The coach ran from where he was on third base over to first and put his arm around her which I knew was making it hard for her not to burst into tears. He put his arm around her and walked with her. She was a trooper and the entire place cheered when she took her place back on first... | |
| | I look so funny what should I do? | | Well I spent the weekend watching softball and for some reason I got really tan on my right leg but my right leg is still white. It looks so funny. I went outside yesterday to try to get it equal but I swear the sun is only hitting my right leg no matter what position I lay in. So it just keeps getting darker making my left leg look so very white*L* What should I do other then cutting one pant leg off my jeans and running around outside. | |

| Weight Loss Competition - Tuesday, July 3rd | | Hello everyone! Well its time for the a holiday and I know thats when most of us do the worst. I was reading the responses from yesterday and I noticed a lot of us don't stay on track at festivities, weddings, parties, etc. I probably am the worse, BUT there is hope. Here are a few suggestions I thought of...Weather permitting tomorrow, try and get an activity started instead of just sitting around drinking, talking, whatever. Try and get a volleyball game, softball game, whatever you like going. Its a great way to get the party going and its a great way to burn some calories. When it comes to drinks, make sure you drink plenty of water and try and stay away from the pop. For most of us we'll be having the occasional alcoholic beverage, but try not to over do it. As for food, all I can say is choose wisely. Remember that you could easily go buy the food you see at your parties.... | |
| | What's the recycling program like in your area? | | I'm just curious. Here in the Denver area (select areas anyway) we can request these large purple bins (like large trashcans on wheels) to put all of our recyclables in, including: glass, bottles, paper, cans, cardboard, etc and they're picked up every other week.I don't know what the program is like where my mom lives now, but when I lived there it sucked. You got a green container (the size of about 2 milk crates together) and there were certain days they would pick up certain things. You couldn't put it all together, so you had to have some way to store your newspapers or whatever on clear bottle day if you were putting out clear bottles. It was such a pain in the butt that most people in my mom's neighborhood didn't even bother. Are you able to take certain recyclables in and get paid for them? I haven't been to one of those centers in years, but my sisters and I used to collect... | |
