| One of my ball players had a baby tonight. I'm a Grand-Coach | | Okay... I know this sounds confusing, and this is one discussion I definitely file under LIFE.
I used to coach high school baseball and the first team I coached had 7 seniors, all of whom are almost sons to me, and all are brothers to my own son.
Well, one of my ball players, one who studied at the CIA (Culinary Institute) and is a chef in downtown Atlanta, had a little girl tonight.
So I'm a Grand-Coach.
I already told him I see a fastpitch softball player in his future. I also said to put the rattle in the LEFT hand.
So, just wanted to let you know.
I hope some people read this.
It's little events like these that give you hope that tomorrow will bring better things. When the world says 'give up', hope whispers 'try it one more time'. | |
| | TGIF! Any weekend plans? | | I am leaving in a few minutes to babysit our little grandbaby. My daughter wants to go workout at the gym and her husband is working. It's only 7am...lol We have plans later to meet up with softball friends at the casino. Should be fun. Tomorrow I have a bridal shower and then dinner with the softball team and parents. My husband coaches girls fastpitch softball so we do things with the girls and their parents on a regular basis. The team practices all year long. They are inside in a school gymnasium during the winter months. Enjoy your time scrapbooking tomorrow with your friend. What exciting new projects do you have going on for your upcoming craft sale? You always make interesting items. | |

| Foriegn objects in the laundry | | That's a nightmare when it comes to doing laundry. Even though kleenex is biodegradable, it hangs around the washer and dryer for a long period of time like a bad habit. I do remember to clean out my pockets all the time. It's the first thing I do when taking off a pair of jeans that need to be washed. However, I have this husband who is a gum chewer. He doesn't put used chewing gum back in his pocket but sometimes forgets the wrappers are in his pocket. My husband coaches girl's fastpitch softball. Often they have an extra girl join the team for a tournament. A girl played with the team and my husband brought home the dirty uniform for me to wash. I didn't see the back pocket therefore I couldn't check it. It had a piece of chewed chewing gum in the wrapper in that pocket. I had gum all over the washer, my hands and the other clothes since I wash in cold water. It was a major mess.... | |

| Am I A Dying Breed? | | I hate watching them too. I love playing them but for some reason watching just bores me. But my husband is the weird one. He doesn't like watching them at all. So I don't feel so bad because he doesn't watch them either. The only thing i can stomach is Fastpitch, Softball. I LOVE watching that. It brings back memories of playing when I was young. But I agree with you. I don't like watching them. | |
| | What do you do on the weekends? | | I spend my weekends at softball tournaments. My daughter plays fastpitch softball and it has become a very large part of our lives. Each weekend over the summer we travel to local tournaments and somtimes tournaments further away. I spend each weekend watching softball games, hanging out with other parents etc. I'm getting a great tan. Sort of. How do you spend yor weekends? | |

| How have youth sports affected your family? | | I have two children a girl (14) who plays fastpitch softbal and a boy (11) who plays baseball. My daugther plays more competitively than my son. She has played recrational (park) ball, travel ball and she has played for her school team. Her Dad is obsessed with the sport. He acts as if he is her manager. We spend each summer travelling every weekend to softball tournaments. During the school year we have either a practice or game about every night, between our two children. Our friends are parents who's children also play ball. It seems that youth sports as taken over our lives, and not necessarily in a good way. How have youth sports affected our life? Is it good, bad or a little of both? | |
| | Kids and sports | | my kids play soccer baseball fastpitch and karate. I think that it is okay for parents to coach as long as they trat their kid the same and nt worse or better | |
